New to lacrosse?

Lacrosse is known as “the fastest sport on two feet” — a fast-paced, high-energy game that combines speed, skill, and teamwork. Played with a stick and a ball, players work together to pass, catch, and shoot in order to score goals. The sport has deep roots in Native American history, where it was played for centuries as both a game and a cultural tradition.

Today, lacrosse is one of the fastest-growing sports in America, attracting athletes of all ages. It blends elements of basketball, soccer, and hockey, offering nonstop action and excitement for players and fans alike.

PMYC offers programs for boys and girls from Kindergarten thru 6th grade. While the rules and field specifications can differ based on age and gender, the basic structure is the same. Below are some additional resources to help get your child ready to play lacrosse.

About

PMYC Lacrosse

The Phoenixville Boys Lacrosse Club was founded in 2001 and previously worked in conjunction with the Phoenixville Area YMCA.

In 2004, PMYC added an instructional girls lacrosse program that has developed into a strong, competitive youth program for Kindergarten through 8th grade.  The Phoenixville Boys Lacrosse Club joined with PMYC in the Spring of 2007. The Boys and Girls Lacrosse programs have been very successful in fulfilling the PMYC mission serving close to 200 players every Spring!

The boys teams are members of the SEPLYA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Lacrosse Youth Association) league and the girls teams are members of the Tri-County division of PAGLA (Philadelphia Area Girls Lacrosse Association) league. Teams practice two days per week, compete in home and away games and/or play days on Saturdays, and occasionally on Sunday. The season runs from mid-March to the week before Memorial Day

In all, PMYC is continuing to support the youth of Phoenixville and surrounding communities by offering sports which build respect the games, teammate and opponents by providing competitive training through positive coaching.
